Scott Barber was ordained to the Gospel ministry by his father’s church (Pastor Fred Barber, West Milford Baptist Church, West Milford, WV) on July 31, 1979. Since that time, he and his wife, Tresa, have served faithfully in active local church ministry.
He earned a BA in Bible (1978) from Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) and a Master of Ministry degree (1995) from Northland Baptist Bible College, (Dunbar, WI). After serving as senior pastor and Christian School administrator of Emmanuel Baptist Church (Elizabeth City, NC), and as a church-planting pastor of Eastside Baptist Church (New Orleans, LA), the Lord led Pastor Barber and his family to the Racine, WI, area in 1990, where he served for ten years as senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church (Sturtevant, WI). He then served as assistant pastor at Greendale Baptist Church (Greendale, WI). In September of 2004, the Lord led Pastor Barber to Bible Baptist Church (Hilton Head Island, SC), where he is currently serving as senior pastor.
Scott and Tresa Barber have four grown sons: Nathan, Jonathan, Matthew, and Daniel. Nathan and Dana Barber and family are in Shorewood, IL, where Nathan is a church-planting pastor. Jonathan and Rebecca Barber and family live in Ann Arbor, MI where Jonathan serves as senior pastor. Matthew and Chelsey Barber and family live in Valparaiso, IN. Based out of Emmanuel Baptist Church of South Haven, Matthew and his family travel in full-time evangelism. Daniel and Jenny Barber and family live in Philadelphia, PA, where Daniel works for the Whole Foods supermarket chain as a regional inspector in the field of organized retail crime prevention.
